Obituary

Carlos Eckel Fisher of Brevard went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2023, at the age of 74.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his sisters, Michelle Fisher (John), Sharon Hall, and Renee Avirett,, his brother Bramley Fisher (Linda), and sister-in-law Wanda Fisher. He is also survived by his nieces Jessica and Rachael, whom he considered his own. He was blessed with so many wonderful nieces and nephews. The youngest of which was little Fisher Wilbanks, who brought Carlos so much joy. Carlos was reunited Sunday with his father and mother, Cecil and Lela Mae Fisher, as well as his brother Dennis Fisher. Also there was his brother-in-law Tommy Avirett, and his sister-in-law Gail Fisher, no doubt making for a sweet homecoming.

Carlos was so proud to have served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. As a Vietnam veteran and decorated soldier, he loved his country. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Vietnamese Campaign Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and an expert badge for his expertise with a rifle.

Carlos also enjoyed the outdoors. Over the years he and Mary travelled the country together in search of that next great hunt. Up north, down south, out west, and back again, they enjoyed many adventures together and made many friends along the way. David Stevens of Maine was a lifelong friend, always glad to see Carlos come for a visit. If Carlos and Mary weren't travelling, you could always find him at home enjoying a good book with his sweet cats, Ruger and BB, at his side. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of so many. We love you Carlos, and we'll miss you every day.

A visitation will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm. The family has chosen to have a private graveside service afterwards.

After the graveside service, we welcome everyone to join us for a meal at the picnic shed at Sycamore Flatts. Bring a lawn chair and come be with us for food and fellowship.
