IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Jeanne
Curlee
December 24, 1948 – February 4, 2025
Carol Jeanne Curlee, age 76, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on February 4th, 2025. Born on December 24, 1948, Carol lived a life filled with love, faithfulness, and devotion to her family.
Carol was the daughter of the late Rev. James Hubert Hamblin, Sr. and Laura Lucinda Walthall Hamblin. She was also preceded in death by her husband Barry Ellis Curlee, Sr., daughter Lucinda Curlee, her brothers Philip & Joseph Hamblin, and other cherished family members who went before her.
Carol proudly supported Barry's service in the Navy, spending a year with him at a naval base in Japan. Right after, in 1969, Barry and Carol began growing their family in Brevard where they raised all 3 of their children: Jennifer, Stefanie, and Ellis. In addition to raising a family, Carol worked at Dupont in Brevard and then the Department of Social Services, also in Brevard.
Carol's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Curlee Bridges (Chris), Stefanie Curlee Huffstetler (Chris); her son, Barry Ellis Curlee, Jr. (Jessicah); and her treasured grandchildren: Kristen Saige Huffstetler, Hannah Nicole Anderson (Darren), Joshua David Huffstetler (Kristin), Samuel Ellis Curlee, Olivia Eden Manuel (Cymon), and Sofiah Grace Curlee. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren: Elijah Luke Anderson, Malakai Gregory Anderson, SayDee Lucinda Huffstetler, and Elizabeth Saige Huffstetler.
Carol is also survived by her sisters Paula (John) Baucom and Mitzi Hamblin; her brother Jim (Tina) Hamblin; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.
Carol was a friend, trusted confidant, nurturer, and spiritual mother of the entire family. Even those not blood-related called her Nana and Mama. She has left a wide and deep spiritual legacy, passing on her love for the Lord to her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Carol's life of love and devotion to family will be honored with a visitation on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM. A celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 PM. Both will be held at Brevard Church of God on McLean St.
Carol will be so deeply missed by all who knew her. Words cannot convey all that she meant to her family. Her devotion to her family and loving kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
