Obituary

Brevard - Carolyn Sue (Worley) Baker, born on August 21, 1946, transitioned peacefully from this life on December 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Madison County, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late Andrew and Nellie Worley. Married to Daniel Baker, Carol was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Tonya Gehrt (Russ) and Alicia Baker (Danny Barnwell), and loving grandmother to her two granddaughters, Martina and Kerrie.

The youngest of six siblings, Carol was preceded in death by her brothers Leo Worley and Donald Worley, sister Eleanor McGrath, and is survived by her sisters Hazel Roberts and Virginia Plemmons, as well as numerous cherished nieces and nephews.

Carol lived a life devoted to her family, faith, and music. Her unwavering love for her family and her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ were evident in every aspect of her life. She found immense joy in playing the piano at her church, where her melodies uplifted countless spirits.

Carol enjoyed working at Belk, where she not only excelled but also formed enduring friendships with her clients. Her compassionate nature and warm personality made her beloved by all who knew her.

The beach held a special place in Carol's heart. She found solace, joy, and cherished moments during her annual vacations, surrounded by sun, sand, and the presence of her cherished family and friends.

Carol's infectious smile was her trademark and she had a unique ability to connect with everyone she met. She had the power to brighten any room and her playfulness was truly infectious.

While the world mourns the loss of this extraordinary woman, her loved ones find solace in knowing that she is now at peace in the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Carol's memory will forever remain a source of love and inspiration to all whose lives she touched. May her legacy of kindness, faith, and unwavering love live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Funeral services will be held 2pm, Monday, December 18, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church Mission with the Rev. Allen Aiken officiating. The family will receive friends from 12pm-2pm.
