Obituary

Carolyn Powell Murdock, 71, of Mills River passed away December 3, 2015, at Elizabeth House after a hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born September 17, 1944, in Transylvania County. Carolyn graduated from Rosman High School and retired from Ecusta after 42 years of dedicated service.

She loved her family, cooking shows and her puppies.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Looney and Inez Powell; sister, Jean McJunkin and brother, Larry Powell.

She is survived by her husband, Richard C. Murdock of the home, daughter Anita Lowe of Boone, step-daughters Karen Furnari, Deborah Muse and step-son Richard "Chuck" Murdock of Mills River, grandchildren Dustin Furnari of Chicago, IL, Karla Furnari of Mills River, Katie Wilson and husband Andy of Waco, Texas, Lauren Muse of Mills River and Tanner Muse of High Point. Also surviving is a sister Jane Guinn and husband Ira, brothers Sammy Powell and wife Billie Jean and Johnny Powell and wife Janet; sister-in-law Ginger Weisberg and husband Herman of Mills River , brother in law, Lloyd McJunkin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel at Moody-Connolly on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 12noon – 2pm with a graveside service to be held at Shepherd Memorial Park at 3pm.

Memorials are requested to be made to Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
