Charles Vincent Brookshire Sr., age 82, formerly of Brevard died Sunday, January 22, 2012, at his residence in Rutherford County . He was born January 27, 1929 in Tampa Fl. to the late Clarence and Annie Tollison Brookshire. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; C.F. Brookshire and his twin sister; Viola Caroline Brookshire. He retired from the U.S. Army, he was a Mason and a member of Dunn's Rock Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife Helen Hogsed Brookshire of the home, one son; Charles Vincent Brookshire Jr. and his wife Deborah of Tuscon AZ., three daughters; Martha Carol Evatt and her husband Allan of Chester SC, Becky Short and her husband Scott of Warner Robbins GA and Joan McCraw and her husband Bill of Rutherfordton, one brother; Richard Brookshire and his wife Judy of West Palm Beach FL., eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday January 26, 2012 at Moody-Connolly Funeral home conducted by Rev. Claude Nicholson and Rev. Phil Bailey. Interment will follow at Connestee Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of Rutherford County, 374 Hudlow Road, Forest City NC 28043.
