Charles Leland "Dudley" Gillespie Brevard - Charles Leland "Dudley" Gillespie, 71, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Weldon and Ella Mae Scruggs Gillespie. He was also preceded in death by his longtime companion, Linda Southerland. Mr. Gillespie was a veteran of the U. S. Army and he was retired from US Airways. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Surviving are his daughter, Christa Hibbitts and husband Ricky of Cameron, LA; sister, Joyce Madden of Cashiers; grandson, Charles Andrew Phillips of Balsam Grove; nephew, Jim Madden of Cashiers. A memorial service will be held at 5:30 PM Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with military rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans.
