Obituary

Charles Ernest "Chuck" Gosnell, 85, passed away on July 3, 2024, in Brevard, North Carolina, where he was also born on February 25, 1939.

Chuck proudly served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1978, dedicating 20 years to his country before retiring with honors. His service years were marked by a deep commitment to the values he held dear, reflecting his dedication and patriotism.

After his military service, Chuck worked at Olin. After many years of working at Olin, Chuck decided to start a new journey with his own business called Gosnell Home Improvement, which included his father, Ernest Gosnell. After many years, Chuck later retired and enjoyed a peaceful life filled with activities he loved. He was an avid camper, traveler, hunter and fisherman, often found telling jokes or playing cards with friends. He also had a passion for dancing at the Barn, a local favorite spot, which saw him as a great dancer, and never met a stranger.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Fran Gosnell of 64 years; daughters, Melinda Helton (Brian) and Sharon Buhse (David); brother, Robert (Skip) Gosnell; nephew, Michael Gosnell, one aunt, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Connie Gosnell, and his siblings, Carol Jean, Sandra, Pat, and Michael.

A service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 11:00 am at Cedar Mountain Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers, an organization.
