Charles William Holden of Brevard, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024, after a short illness.

He was born on December 6, 1933, to the late Hubert Holden and Josie Queen Holden. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy McCrary Holden, stepdaughter, Ann Wilson, and sisters, Dorothy Jean Holden and Carolyn Holden Gaither.

Charles was a Korean War Veteran. He joined the Navy in 1952 and served until 1968.  He came home and went to work for the city of Brevard from 1968 to 1974, and then worked for Ecusta Corp., retiring in 1995 after 22 ½ years of service. Charles served as Post Commander of VFW Post 4309 for five years, and served with the Transylvania County Honor Guard. He sold poppies and put flags out at the cemetery.

He loved to read and eat out. Charles was a member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by a stepson, Billy (Kathie) Wilson; stepdaughter, Tracey Creamer (Steve), two granddaughters, Tessa Wilson and Taylor Creamer, who he loved very much; sister, Gladys Street (Mack); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Sharon and Ladwin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Carrs Hill Baptist Church building fund.

A memorial service with military rites will be held at 2 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Carr's Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
