Charles Anon "Ike" "AC" Candler, age 89 of Brevard, formerly of Asheville, passed away July 29, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. A native of Asheville (Cedar Hill), he was the son of the late Anon and Zennie Candler. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Bates Candler, his brother Howard Candler, and his sister-in-law, Mary Candler. Mr. Candler was retired from the NCDOT after 43 years of service. He loved bowling, hunting and fishing, the Atlanta Braves and auto racing. He also loved his grandchildren very much and he was much loved by his church family and many friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 31 years, Mildred Pressley Candler; three sons, Dave Candler and wife Brenda of Mills River; Michael Wood and wife Dale of Brevard, and Gerald Wood and wife Tammy of Rosman; five grandsons, Josh Candler, Draven "Pine Knot" Wood, Chandler Wood, Cameron Wood, and Logan Wood; three granddaughters, Melony Wood, Colbie Wood and Khloe Wood; one niece, Donna Hileman of Candler; one nephew, Allen Chandler. The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Friday, August 2, 2019 at Cathey's Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
