Camden, SC – Charles Edward "Ed" Jones, 96, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. A native of Transylvania County, NC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Phillips Jones and Ollie Mae Summey Jones and was the husband of the late Lottie Richardson Jones. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia "Pat" McCall, brothers, Bill and Kenneth Jones, and sisters, Catherine Baines and Ann Calloway. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II. He attended Mizpah Baptist Church in Camden. Surviving are his sister, Beulah Stalcup of Canton, NC; brother, G. A. Jones of Dacusville, SC; grandchildren, Barbara Smith of Piedmont, SC, and Mark McCall of Moonville, SC; great-grandchildren, Charlene Smith, Jeremy Smith, and Miranda McCall; great-great-grandchild, Baylin Smith. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Traveler's Rest, SC, with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
