Charles "C.R." Burgess Raines Brevard – Charles "C.R." Burgess Raines, 72, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Wayman Burgess Raines and Mary Perry Raines. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Shelby Raines. Mr. Raines was employed by B & S Auto Parts and was formerly employed by Ecusta Corp. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was an artist of local landmarks, liked old cars, and Blue Grass and Gospel Music. Surviving are his wife, Barbara W. Raines; daughters, Krystal Raines of Horse Shoe, and Karla Raines Mather and husband Ian of Pisgah Forest; son, Steven Raines and wife Sandra of Brevard; brothers, Harley Raines and wife Elaine of Brevard, and Pete Raines and wife Annette of Brevard; grandchildren, Dennis Mather and Layne Barber; great grandchild, Kinley Barber; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Larry Wilson and Bob Marshall officiating. Burial will be in Dunn's Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
