Charlie H. Strigo, Sr., 69, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 following a battle with cancer. A native of Alamance County, he resided in Brevard for 41 years. He was the son of the late Thomas and Gene Strigo of Graham, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by Charlie H. Strigo, Jr. He is survived by his wife Wilda Strigo. He is also survived by two brothers, Tommy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Duffy from Alamance County. Charlie was a graduate of Graham High School and The Atlantic Christian College. He played football at Elon College for four years. Charlie's love for sports led him to coach football, wrestling and track for 35 years. His second love was "Shag Dancing," which he selflessly and tirelessly promoted in our region. His many friends and dance students took great joy in watching Wilda and him on the dance floor where they were the perfect model of enduring love and grace in action. The Memorial Service will be held in Brevard, at 11:00 A.M. at the Sanctuary of Davidson River Presbyterian Church, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011.
