Obituary

Clarence L. Miller Brevard – Clarence L. Miller, 84, died Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. Born in Williamsport, PA, he was the son of the late Elsie E. and Maurice D. Miller. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Brevard, and was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in the occupation of Japan shortly after the end of World War II. He was later recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA and worked for several years as an investigator and claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. Because of his fondness for mechanics, he later acquired his FAA Airframe and Powerplant license and worked for Capital Airlines at Washington National Airport until their acquisition by United Airlines. At that time, he went with Allegheny Airlines, now U.S. Airways, as a mechanic and later moved into a management position. At the time of his retirement in 1990, he was Director of Technical Procedures and Publications in the Maintenance and Engineering Department. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jean B. Miller. Surviving are his daughter, Barbara of Ravenna, OH; son, Ronald and his wife Joanne and grandsons, Avery and Collin all of Wilmington, DE; granddaughter, Meredith of Charlotte, NC; brother, Clyde and wife Sandra of Wierton, WV; one niece and one nephew. Following cremation, the cremated remains will be interred at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA. Per his request, no public service is planned. Donations in his memory can be made to the Brevard Music Center or to Four Seasons Hospice.
