Brevard - Claude Mitchell Raines, age 68, lost his battle to cancer on August 13, 2026 at home surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on May 18,1958 to Davis Clemson Raines and Etta Ell’v Eubanks Raines in Brevard. He was preceded in death by his father Davis Clemmons Raines and Etta Ell’v Eubanks Raines, sisters, Laura Pauline Stamey, Shirley Raines and a granddaughter Angelina Brook Raines.

Survivors include his son Joshua Mitchell Raines (Ashley Raines) and daughter Maria Raines

Of Brevard. His loving ex wife and mother of his children Sharon smith of brevard whom was by his side at the last of his days.

Brothers Rev.Pastor Paul Raines, Pete Raines (Barbara) of Brevard, Sister Viola Wiggins (Donald) of pisgah forest, Sister Louise Owen’s (Roland Owen’s) of Brevard.

Grandchildren Cody,Tyler,Bianca,and Brayden Raines, of Brevard, Elizabeth Raines of Winder Georgia. Colton Brock of Canton. Anna O’shields of etowah. Abigale O’shields of Brevard. Great Granddaughter Oaklynn Grace of (Canton). He had several nieces, nephews, and cousins that will greatly miss him.

Claude worked at ingles for many years in the produce department; he enjoyed working there. He loved the outdoors was a avid hunter and fisherman, if he wasn’t chasing coons, he was hunting whitetail deer or he was training dogs with his brothers and son. There wasn’t a time that he wasn’t outdoors doing something. He loved spending time with his family and loved every one of his grandchildren to no end. He was known to all the grandchildren as “Pop Pop’’

He will forever be missed but never forgotten. May his legacy live on.

Funeral services were held 2pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Moody Connolly Funeral Home. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Burial was held in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
