Clyde Gaddy, Jr. Brevard – Clyde Gaddy, Jr., 68, died on Thursday, March 21, 2013 after a period of declining health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde, Sr. and Eulalia Elizabeth Ralston Gaddy, and his brother, Edward Gaddy. Clyde is survived by his wife, Rita Smith-Gaddy of the home; daughters, Christa O'Neil of Gassville, Arkansas and Shannon Davenport of Flippin, Arkansas; son, C. J. Smith of Brevard; grandchildren, Siarrah LeKan Smith, Andrew O'Neil, Garrett and Emily Davenport; sisters, Jean Mahoney of Brevard, Mary Lou Washburn of Lancaster, SC, Regina Harmon of Asheville; brothers, Lawrence Gaddy of Etowah, Larry Gaddy of Brevard; a host of nieces and nephews. Clyde was born and raised in the Pisgah Forest community of Transylvania County. He was a 1964 graduate of Brevard High School and he owned and operated the Shell Station on Rosman Hwy. for many years. Clyde served the citizens of Transylvania County for 10 years as a deputy sheriff with Sheriff Hubbard. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving a honorable discharge. Clyde will be missed by his family and friends. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm Monday, March 25, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Clyde was lovingly cared for by the staff of the Transylvania Regional Hospital and Palliative Care.
