Obituary

Pisgah Forest – Conley Newton McKinnish, 91, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Ellenia Ball McKinnish and Wesley F. McKinnish. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jackie Fox McKinnish. Mr. McKinnish was a veteran of WW II, serving in the European Theater with the U. S. Army's 8th Air Corp. He raised Black Angus cattle at Triple Streams Farm in the Little River community and was a member of the Transylvania County Cattlemen's Assoc. He was an active fox hunter until his death. He was retired from Ecusta Corp. as a Product Supervisor in the Cellophane Division after 40 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Athene Clark McKinnish; sons, Rock Conley McKinnish and wife Margaret of Hendersonville, and Richmond "Rick" Dee McKinnish of Wagener, SC; daughter, Rita LaVerne McKinnish of Arden; grandchildren, Tania McKinnish McShaffrey and husband Keith, and Terra Greenwood McKinnish-Harllee and husband Peter; great-grandchildren, Connor, Elena, Ryanne, Carter, and Conley. Private family services will be held with Life Celebration Gathering to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Transylvania County Cattleman's Assoc. Scholarship Program.
