Coy Mathis Pisgah Forest – Coy Mathis, 81, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late John and Pearl Massingale Mathis and the husband of the late Jeanette Mathis. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma, Betsy, Evelyn and Thelma. Surviving are his daughters, Patricia Ann McCann and husband Jack of Pisgah Forest, and Brenda Whitmire of Rosman; brothers, Troy Mathis and wife Pat, Jake Mathis, and Orville Mathis and wife Emma Lee all of Pisgah Forest; sisters, Bessy Levi and husband Jack of Hendersonville and Evelyn Hoxit and husband Bill of Brevard; grandchildren, Bobby McCann, Allen Whitmire, Chrissy Brice, and Anna Whitmire; great-grandson, Adrian Elijah Whitmire. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
