Daniel William "Gator" Collins, age 70, of Abbeville, SC, formerly of Brevard, passed away Tuesday September 27, 2011 at Petra Health Care Center in McCormick, SC. Mr. Collins was born in Transylvania County to the late Pinkney Monroe Collins and Delia Gibson Collins. "Gator" was a retired construction maintenance engineer. He was also an avid fisherman and was especially fond of spending quality time with his wife Kathryn Cleveland Collins. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Kathryn Cleveland Collins of the home; one daughter, Della Marie Riddle and her husband William of the home; three sons, Daniel William Collins II and his wife Michelle of Donalds, SC, Carrol Collins and his wife Nicole of Greer, SC, and William "Will" Collins and his wife Kascie of Abbeville; two brothers, James Collins and John Collins, both of Brevard; and three grandchildren, Clarice and Cody Collins, and Landon Collins. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Ernest Gibson and Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Friday at the funeral home.
