Danny Lee McCall, age 74, of Hendersonville, NC passed away peacefully in his son's home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer on April 4, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his father Clifford L. McCall, his mother Edith Wood Green and his wife Deborah McCall.

Danny was born in Asheville, NC on January 5, 1950 to the late Edith Wood and Clifford L. McCall.

From a young age Danny enjoyed the outdoors. The love of the outdoors lead to much time spent camping, fishing, and hunting. As an avid hunter he spent much of his life raising and training hunting dogs. He was an exceptional bee keeper and often moved his bees to help pollenate the apple orchards in Hendersonville. After retirement beekeeping became his focus.

Danny graduated Brevard High School in 1968 and then attended AB tech and worked as a tool and dye maker at Sunbelt. He worked for Ecusta from 1972 to retirement in shipping and receiving. Danny then obtained his CDL license and worked doing grading and trucking with Theron McCall and Bill McNeely. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed his job.

Survivors include his two siblings: brother Glenn McCall of Pisgah Forest and sister Gail Brown of Charleston, SC. Three children: daughter April Witzel of McDonough, GA, son Matthew McCall of Balsam Grove, and daughter Whitney McCall of Charleston SC. Five grandsons: Caleb Witzel, Carson Witzel, Bradley McCall, Zayden McCall and Greyson Henry. Three granddaughters: Aubrey Witzel-Kennedy, Ansley Witzel, and Addison McCall. Three great-great grandchildren: Brayden Floyd, Auria Floyd, and Aylah Witzel-Kennedy.

Graveside services will be held 2pm, Monday, April 8, 2024 at Wood's Family Cemetery in Balsam Grove.
