Danny Ray McMahan, age 70, of Brevard, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019. He was the son of the late Auzel and Hazel McMahan. Danny served his country in the US Army in Vietnam. After his army service, he returned home and worked for McCrary Concrete. He purchased McCrary Concrete and owned/operated it for 15 years when he suffered two massive heart attacks and had to close the business. In 1990, he became clubroom manager for the local VFW post 4309 until retirement. He held the position of Quartermaster for over 10 years. Danny was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife Frances Bracken McMahan, two sons, Danny Dwayne McMahan and his wife Brenda and Brian Ray McMahan and his wife Sarah, two brothers, Auzel "Whimpy" McMahan and his wife Helen and Eddie McMahan and his wife Joan, one sister, Mary Kellar and her husband Jimmy, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Leo Bracken officiating. Military honors will immediately follow the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VFW #4309, 50 Veterans Circle, Brevard, NC 28712.
