David Leigh Cantrell
Brevard – David Leigh Cantrell, 66, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at his residence after a brave fight with cancer.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of Euna Leigh Moore Cantrell of Brevard and the late Quentin Eugene Cantrell.
Mr. Cantrell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the SEABEES in Vietnam, and he was the owner/operator of Cantrell Construction for 36 years. He was a Patron Member of the NRA and was the Past National President of the Land Improvement Contractors Association.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Cathy Chapman Cantrell; daughter, Leigh Anne Cantrell and husband Christian Stevens of Charlottesville, VA; son, Matthew Alan Cantrell and wife Jolena of Brevard; brother, Jamie Cantrell and wife Wendy of Mills River; sister, Martha Cremer and husband Arnie of Mills River; 6 grandchildren, Angelica Cantrell, Joseph Cantrell, Rosalia Cantrell, Isaac Cantrell, Allison Stevens, and Quentin Stevens.
The graveside service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Keith Parker officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
