Obituary

Deedie Wilson went home to be with the LORD January 26, 2026. Born in Brevard December 28, 1940 to E.C. and Elsie Wilson.
Deedie grew up in Brevard and through school was known as a very gifted athlete and was named Co-Captain of the Brevard Blue Devils Football team in 1959. After graduating in 1960.
Deedie married the love of his life Barbara and the same year joined the Navy serving as a navigator on the sub-rescue ship USS Petrel (ASR-14). Apon returning from the Navy, he attended AB Tech for Chemistry and began a 35-year career at Olin in the film-side research department then moving to quality on the paper-side, retiring in 1999.
Deedie was a very accomplished woodworker learning from his father-in-law, nationally known craftsman Walter Catrell. He honed his skills over 70 years of woodworking and was recognized as a Master wood turner and furniture builder with high quality furniture all over the United States. Above all, Deedie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and just a great guy to everyone he met. He enjoyed visits by customers and friends at his shop Canter Woodworkers and always had time to talk about anything that was going on in their lives.
He was dedicated member, and deacon at Carrs Hill Baptist Church and never hesitated to share his faith with others. His family was his life, and he showed this by NEVER missing a concert, swim meet, tennis match, graduation, or any event involving them. A dedicated and loving husband, he had over 65 amazing years of marriage with Barbara and they set an example of love and caring that has touched their family in so many ways.
Deedie is survived by his wife Barbara, son Brian, daughter-in-law Lee, grandson Christopher Wilson, grandson Cameron Wilson and his wife Anna Wilson.
We know you are in heaven enjoying some of Gran’s biscuits and gravy and turning a bedpost at your lathe. You will be missed!
