Dennis Lee Norton Skyland - Dennis Lee Norton, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Lemuel and Violet Mae Hooper Norton. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, June, his second wife, Bea, a son, Ronnie Norton, step-daughter, Becky Lowe, sister, Hilda Hales, and brothers, Ben and Roy Norton. Mr. Norton served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WW II and was retired from the Safety Dept. of Ecusta Corp. He was a faithful Christian and was a member of Skyland First Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Karen Duncan and husband Ray of Mills River; brother, Luther Hooper Norton of Pisgah Forest; sister, Sara Sue Duke of Cullowhee; grandchildren, Gary Norton, Angie Thompson, Graham Duncan, and Kayla Lowe; 4 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Skyland First Baptist Church with the Mr. Robert Ponder officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
