Derinda Ann Powell, age 55 of Brevard, N.C., passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024. She was born August 20, 1969, to the late Douglas and Tibatha Corn.

She is survived by her husband, Harry R. Powell, and family, brother, Doug Corn, and family as well as many close friends that she considered family.

Derinda was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County. She worked at Ingles in Brevard for 30 years taking pride in meeting the needs of many. Derinda served in many capacities at the VFW Post 4309 in Brevard.

She loved riding her motorcycle through the mountains and beaches while exploring new places with her husband, Harry and friends.  Derinda had a green thumb and could grow anything, loving to work outside with her plants and flowers.

With a quiet gentle soul, warm smile and kind heart, Derinda Powell will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at 2 pm.  A celebration of Derinda's life will follow at 3:00 pm at the VFW Post 4309, Veterans Circle, Brevard, NC 28712.
