Obituary

Diane Leyda Buchanan, age 67 of Pisgah Forest, gained her heavenly wings on Thursday, July 18, 2019 peacefully at home, after a three-year long battle with Appendiceal Cancer. She was born on October 5, 1951 in Brevard County, FL to the late Richard Leyda and Joanne Leyda Schneider. Diane is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Dale Buchanan; Daughter Jennifer Buchanan Owens (Shane) of Pisgah Forest; Son Matthew Buchanan (Christy) of Fletcher; two granddaughters Claire Owens and Mirabelle Buchanan; Sisters Mary Zajac (Michael) of Brevard; Margaret Leyda of Fletcher; Brother Edward Schneider of Miami, Fla; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew's aunts, uncles, and cousins. Diane never met a stranger; her infectious smile and giving heart was felt by anyone and everyone that she met. For most of her life "Di", was the beautiful and caring face around Transylvania County sporting events concession stands. Mrs. Buchanan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass was held at 12 Noon on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
