Obituary

Mr. Dillard Everett Adams, 86, of Brevard, N.C., entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 24, 2013. Dillard was born April, 14, 1927 in Pound, Va to the late Aubrey and Ethel Hubbard Adams. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Habersham during World War II and he was a mason. Discharged from the Navy Dillard returned to Pound, Va married began his family and started his career in law enforcement as a City Policeman. He then went on to become a State Trooper with the State of Virginia and then started his long career as a Federal ATF Agent. He was at home in the woods looking for stills and after his retirement loved to tell his "Revenuer Stories". In addition to his parents, Dillard was preceded in death by his first wife Elsie Wegner Adams and three sisters and one brother, Violet Meade, Rubel, Kincaid, Lilly Green and James R. Adams. Survivors include his children Patty Taylor and husband Bill of Conway, SC; Everett Adams and wife Peggy of Hortense, Ga; Allen Adams and wife Rose of Tallahassee, Florida; Margie Adams of Thomaston, Ga; his sister Martha Beverly of Wise, Va.; grandaughters: Rebecca Apeles, Amber Adams Isted, Angela Adams Strickland, Janet Adams Williamson, Corbett Taylor Rothwell, Amy Taylor Springer and one grandson Allen Adams, Jr. and 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; his sister-in-law Flaudine Shortt Adams; his 103 year old Aunt Garnett; several neices and nephews. Dillard was a family man, taking his family to church instilling in his family moral values and to love the Lord Jesus as their personal saviours. He was always leading his children and neighborhood kids thru hikes in the mountains of Virginia and he passed on to his children a love of camping. He was always ready with his hammer and saw to lend a hand in a friends project. He was well thought of in his community. A private memorial will be held in Pound, Va. where Dillard known to his family as Eugene will be laid to rest amongst family and his beloved mountains of Virginia.
