Rosman – Donald L. Britt, 70, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2012. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Melburn and Maybelle West Britt. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Orr Britt, sister, Flora Jane Crawford, grandson, Jarrod Bracken, and great grandson, Christopher. Mr. Britt attended Rosman Baptist Tabernacle. He was retired from DuPont after 25 years of service. He was a very giving person and he loved to help people. Surviving are his wife, Maria Gorman-Britt; daughters, Anita Boan and husband Louie of Fletcher, and Joy Rider and husband Keith of Pisgah Forest; sons, Tommy Britt of Edneyville and Barry Britt and wife Angie of Arden; step-children, Angela Gorman of Rosman, Melody Gorman of Asheville, and Shawn Gorman and wife Jessica of Brevard; Daughter-in-law, Brenda Britt of Brevard; special "adopted" daughter, Lorrie Mahoney of Crab Creek; sister, Betty Sue Blythe of Knoxville; brothers, Lewis Britt and wife Margie of Texas, Daniel Britt and wife Nancy of Texas, and David Britt and wife Karen of Penrose; 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held at 2:00PM Rosman Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Tommy Morrow officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosman Baptist Tabernacle Building Fund. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is caring for the family.
