Doris Wilson Kitchen, 81, passed away on May 4 at home. She spent her last days enjoying visits and calls from loved ones. She was a native of Transylvania County and the daughter of the late Roy and Nancy Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her husband, Gene A. Kitchen, and son Christopher L. Kitchen. Survivors are daughters Tammy Kitchen and Susan (Matt) Rudisill; grandchildren Luna, Macy, and Will; great granddaughter Chere; brother Rodger Dale (Shirley) and sister Sandra (Ray); daughter-in-law Doris and nephews, Dale (Beth), Dan, and Brandon (Nora Lynn). Doris had a loving heart and always put her family's needs first. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows and coming up with new ideas for special meals. Her favorite thing was seeing the flowers bloom in the spring. We will miss her kind and gentle demeanor and sassy sense of humor. The reunion in heaven is surely filled with laughter and celebration. She will be buried alongside her husband and son in Cherryville, NC later this month.
