Doris Shook Teague, of Pisgah Forest went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 27, 2010. At Transylvania Regional Hospital she was born in Franklin NC on December 11, 1938 to the late Ezra Shook and Laverne Bolick Shook. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Joyce Deitz. Survivors include her loving husband of thirty eight years, Auburn E. Teague, two sisters Carolyn Cabe and Linda Crunkelton, two brothers, Furman and Jim Shook all of Franklin, a brother–in-law Howard Deitz of Harrison Tenn. and several nieces and nephews. Doris moved from Franklin at 18 years of age and settled in the Laurel Lake Estates subdivision of Pisgah Forest in 1977. During that time she become a loyal and dedicated employee for Process Engineers at the Ecusta Plant for 41 years where she carried out her duties with accuracy and extreme efficiency. After retiring from her field she extended her talents and was instrumental in initiating various tasks and projects to enhance the Laurel Lakes Estates Community, as well as holding different positions on the Board of Directors. Not only was she a source of information to many people, but a fine leader in the association who had a responsible work ethic to pursue the completion of her goals for the common good. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling throught the United States, dinner parties with friends, long walks in the forest, nature and flowers, and had a special rapprt with animals. Her sense of humor and fierce loyalty to family and friends made her endearing to all who know her. Doris was a loving and thoughtful person who always put others before herself and paid attention to the tiniest details to make those around her feel special. She was a beautiful person with a true Christian soul who will always live in our hearts. Your untimely death has left a void in all of us. Some neighborhoods can be deemed great but it's the very special person that you were that gave our community desirable living and memories to cherish. Thank you, Doris, for all your contributions and a job well done, you accepted your fate with grace and dignity to the very end. We love you and will truly miss you. Funeral services will be held Thursday March 4, 2010 at 1:00pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Owen and Rev. Raymond Winfield officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 1:00pm prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens. Flowers will be appreciated, or you may make a donation to Hospice Care at Transylvania Regional Hospital Foundation, 223 West Jordan Street, Brevard NC 28712. Checks should be made out to Transylvania Regional Hospital Hospice with Doris Teague written on the memo line.
