Doris Cagle Whitener, age 81, of Penrose, NC, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021. Mrs. Whitener was born on March 1, 1940, in Transylvania County, NC to the late Chester Moody Cagle and Levia M. Searcey Cagle. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Dare Cagle, and Marie Holden, one brother, Clyde Cagle, Sr., and one nephew, Clyde Cagle, Jr. Mrs. Whitener was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and had worked in Sunday School for many years. She loved flowers, gardening, and making wedding cakes. She loved kids and was an animal lover. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Merrill Whitener; daughter, Rebecca Harbinson and husband Scott of Hendersonville; son, Bobby Keith Whitener and wife Melissa of Amma, WV; brother, Allen Cagle of Pisgah Forest; four grandchildren, Megan Harbinson and Krista Cummings, Jesse and Jack Whitener; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Garland Cummings.
