Obituary

Doris (Anderson) Zefting, 90, passed away on July 12, 2011 at Cedar Mountain House in Brevard, North Carolina after a long illness. She had been a life-long resident of West Hartford, and summer resident of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. She was a first generation American, the daughter of David Paul and Hilda Ehn Anderson. Her husband of 59 years, Edward C. Zefting, preceded her in death by five years. She was a graduate of Hall High School and Merchant & Bankers Business School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hartford, and then Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Newington, Connecticut; she participated in altar guild and blanket makers. She spent many years in leadership positions with the Girl Scouts; was active in West Hartford Belles and their book club; and the West Hartford Homemakers. She was a member of the Swedish Norden Lodge and Vasarettes, and the Swedish Cultural Society. She enjoyed bowling with the "Flower Girls" and in later years with the "Mixed Group Monday Morning Bowling." She is survived by daughters Karen Alcorn and her husband Ray of Brevard, North Carolina; Kristyn Barry, husband Ted, and daughter Lisa of South Windsor, Connecticut; and Kathy Leary and her husband Dan of Pembroke, New Hampshire, and their sons Christian Leary with wife Heather in Concord, New Hampshire, and Sean Leary and daughter Emily also of Concord. Services will be held at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in West Hartford, Connecticut, with visiting hour at 9:00 AM and funeral at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2011; followed by burial in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford.
