Brevard – Dorothy Lee Hendrix Kitchen, 76, went Home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her residence. A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Dalton Hendrix. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Gilbert Hendrix, Jimmy Dale Hendrix, and Dwight Raymond Hendrix, and a grandson, Thomas Chad Kitchen. Mrs. Kitchen was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She was a perfectionist cook and craftswoman. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Thomas C. Kitchen; daughters, Sandra Groves and husband Jim of Brevard, and Cleeta Kitchen and special friend, John Oliver; son, Tony Kitchen and wife Nina of Cedar Mtn.; sister, Nancy Vaughan and husband Bill of Brevard; brother, Thomas David Hendrix and wife Geneva of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Sherry Lynn McCarson, Crystal Anders, Heather Scott, Shane Fisher, and Andrea Fisher; 11 great-grandchildren; many friends and loved ones. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 26, 2011 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Tommy Owen and Bobby Howard officiating. Entombment will be in Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.
