Dorothy Galloway McKelvey, 73, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014. A native of Transylvania County, she is the daughter of the late Bruce and Connie Juanita Whitmire. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Diamond Alexander. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a genuine love for animals. Survivors include her husband of 42 years; Jack McKelvey, two sons; Eddie Reece and wife Sherry of Pisgah Forest and Bryan Reece and wife Laura of Rosman, grandchildren; Amber Reece, E. J. Alexander, Brad Reece, Justin Reece and wife Brittany, Greg and Kelly McKelvey and one great grandson, Barrett Reece. Funeral Services will be held 11am, Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Chester Chappell and Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transylvania County Humane Society, 379 Ross Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
