Dorris Reid Owen, 80, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. A native of Transylvania County, she is the daughter of the late John and Mamie Reese Reid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Ervin Owen, five brothers and one sister. Dorris was employed by Ecusta for many years. She was a very active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She volunteered for the Democratic Party of Transylvania County. She loved to study genealogy. Survivors include her son; Jeffrey Carl Owen and wife Carol of Lake Toxaway, grandchildren; Drake Owen and Nikki Owen Davis and one great grandchild on the way. Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Saturday, June 14, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 13, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
