Edgar J. Smith Sr. 92, of Brevard passed away peacefully on Thursday

January 14, 2010 after a period of declining health.

He was born February 17, 1917 eldest son of the late Curtis and Alice Mull

of Jackson County. Mr. Smith had resided in Transylvania County since 1942

with exception of one year which he spent in Sweet Home Oregon during

1947-1948.

He retired from Olin (Ecusta) in 1979 after several years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years the late Oma Queen Smith; three sisters and five brothers.

Survivors include one daughter Frances S. Owen and her husband Robert;

three sons, Harold Smith, Junior Smith and wife Arlene and

Jimmy Smith and his wife Elaine all of Brevard, two sisters; Winnie Mull of Springfield Oregon, Elsie Brown of Keizer Oregon, one brother; Berlin Smith and his wife Pearl of Sweet Home Oregon, ten grandchildren, seventeen greatgrandchildren, four step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren,

Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3:00pm Sunday January 17, 2010 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Jim Smith and Rev. Tommy Owen, burial followed at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service.
