Mills River – Edna Leigh Allison Reid, 86, died Friday, September 3, 2010 in Hendersonville. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Carl Allison and Victoria Moore Allison, and was the wife of the late John B. Reid. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marie Whitmire Cunningham, Helen Whitmire, Millie Cunningham, and her brother, Gerald Allison. Edna died on September 3 and joined her husband, John, in Heaven to celebrate their September 3rd 65th wedding anniversary. She was a faithful member of Boylston Baptist Church and was a member of the Happy Valley Homemakers. She loved to garden and shared the fruits of her labor with the community. Edna worked at Ecusta for many years and retired from Belk in Brevard. Surviving are her daughter, Dot Reid Case of Hendersonville; sisters, Grace Lee Hall and husband Gene of Brevard, and Blanche Bakke and husband Winton of Severna Park, MD; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, September 5, 2010 at Boylston Baptist Church with the Rev. James Burress officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, Sept. 4 from 7-8:30 pm at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard.
