Elaine “Lannie” McCall Hamlin went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, March 9, 2026 at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Lannie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis “Hoss” McCall.

She was born on May 9, 1943 to the late Vardirey and Ruth McCall. She was a graduate of Rosman High School. She worked for 10 years at Ecusta in weaving. Lannie loved music-singing and playing piano. She was the church pianist and choir director for most of her adult life. She wrote and published many hymns and sang with her siblings and niece, Sonya McKelvey. Lannie was a very loving and giving person. She taught many children in the church and community piano and helped them grow their love of music. She also helped many couples plan their weddings. All of this without charging as she would say “I’m serving my Lord.”

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gary Hamlin; sister, Veda Huffman; brother Devon McCall (Sandy); sister-in-law, Sandy Whitmire (Gary). She was “second Mom” to all her nieces and nephews: Krissy Huffman Lorenz. Sonya McKelvey (Thad), Alan Huffman (Dana), Tracy McCall (Delia), Scotty McCall (Cathy), and Brian McCall (Jamie); great nieces and nephews: Raegan Lorenz, Will Huffman, Zack Huffman, Elizabeth McKelvey, Madison McKelvey, Walker McKelvey, Jacob McKelvey, Amelia Hamrick (Dylan) and Brianna McCall.

A memorial service will be held at Cathy’s Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2pm with visitation to immediately follow. Pastor Roger Smith and Pastor Tony Lambert to officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of Lannie and sent to Cathey’s Creek Baptist Church at 58 Cathey’s Creek Church Road, Brevard, NC 28712. Moody-Connolly funeral home is caring for the family.
