Eldon Theodore Owen Obituary (August 1, 1934 – February 17, 2024)

Eldon Theodore Owen, 89, of Lake Toxaway, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Born in Jackson County, NC, on August 1, 1934, Eldon was the son of the late Homer and Grace Owen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Owen; his sister, Virginia Potter; and his sister-in-law, Luella Owen.

Eldon was a Department Head in Henderson County government before retiring to Lake Toxaway with his wife, Martha.

He was an army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Dunn Rock Masonic Lodge #267 and a member of the Oasis Shrine Club. Eldon believed in serving his country and his community. He was a talented musician who played a number of stringed instruments in several bands over his lifetime.

Eldon leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Martha Perry Owen; three sons: Richard Bryson, Perry (Michelle) Owen, and Zachary Owen; a daughter, Malinda Owen; a granddaughter, Megan Owen; two brothers: Herbert Owen and Dwight (Juanita) Owen; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation with the family will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC from 6:00–8:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, also at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Burial will follow services at Mack McCall Cemetery in Lake Toxaway, NC with a reception following at Oak Grove Baptist Church at Lake Toxaway, NC.
