Elizabeth "Betty" Cheatham, 92, of Pisgah Forest, N.C. went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2025.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, she was born on April 12, 1932 to Hugh and Yvonne Blain. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and attended the University of Alabama. In 1953, Betty was crowned Queen of Dorians Ball during Mardi Gras. She was married to Jess B. Cheatham on October 10, 1953 and they were married 61 years. Together they raised four children.
Betty was a faithful member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Brevard. She served as the president of the Episcopal Church Women and was a frequent volunteer at the Shop of St. Philip's. Cooking and entertaining were her passion and her Creole specialties were a favorite among friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jess. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children; Cathi (John) of Pisgah Forest, N.C. , Jess of Pisgah Forest, N.C. , Liz ( Robert) of Des Moines, IA., and Thomas of Nashville, TN. Additionally, she had three grandchildren, Caitlin (Adrian) of Norwalk, CT., Alex (Morgan) of Denver, CO. and Chris of Minneapolis, MN. along with two great grandchildren Jaxen and Emmerson of Denver, CO, and she is also survived by her dear younger sister, Susannah "Susie" Blain of New Orleans.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Brevard, N.C.
