Brevard – Betty Hursey Sherrill, age 81, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

She was the daughter of the late Jesse and Albert Robinson Hursey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, John Ramer Sherrill,  one sister, Glee McLean, granddaughter, Diamond Elizabeth Glee Alexander.

Betty was a Transylvania County Historian, member of the Friends of Silvermont, former President of the Historical Society and was recognized by the county for the county preservation award in 2018.  Along with being a writer, she enjoyed growing flowers.

Survivors include her children, Laura Sherrill Reece and Donald Bollinger, one brother, John Hursey, grandchildren, Eamon Alexander, Matthew Bollinger, David Bollinger, Nicole Vaughn and step granddaughter, Amber Reece, great grandchildren, Uriah Vaughn, Kole Vaughn, Adaya Vaughn and many nieces and nephews and the ones she loved.

Memorial services will be held 5pm, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Moody Connolly Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
