Obituary

Ella Mae Hoxit, age 90 passed away Nov. 7, 2020. She was born April 17, 1930 in Jackson County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Ollie Mae Ashe. She had lived most of her life in Transylvania County. In addition to her parents, her husband Glen, son Ronnie (daughter-in-law Beth), brothers, Jessie (Edith), Edward (Nadine), Grady (Frances), James, and sister Pansy (James Monteith) preceded her in death. She is survived by her son David (Linda), daughter-in-law, Joan; five grandchildren, Alisha, Brian (Susan), Matt (Michelle), Mikey, Jonathan (Angel); two brothers Paul (Rowena), and Randy; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Pat, Mary Jane, Mary Ann, Rowena, Lynn, Louise, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ella Mae and Glen were married 68 years before his death in 2014. They both worked at Ecusta during their life. They traveled to many places, including visiting relatives in Washington state and Nevada. They traveled every summer and soon were called "The Road Runners." She was known by many as "Miss Ellie." She had a colorful personality and lots of friends, and never met a stranger. She was a classy little lady and will be missed by all who knew her. A graveside service will be held at 11am Tuesday Nov. 10, 2020 at Blue Ridge Garden of Memory.
