Obituary

Elsie Irene Green McCoy, 85, passed peacefully into her Heavenly Home with her family surrounding her at the Elizabeth House on Thursday, April 18, 2013. She was the daughter of the late William Ed Green and Bessie Elizabeth Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Warren McCoy, the love of her life. They had been married for 51 years and 8 months at the time of his death on June 14, 1998. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded on death by her brother, William Lawrence Green, and a sister, Mary Ellen Butler. Elsie is survived by her three children, Steve and wife Tina of Greenville, SC, Robert of Mills River, and Sherrie (SFC Retired US Army); four brothers, James L. Green and wife Shirley of Rosman, Shirl Green and wife Frances of Brevard, Earl Green and wife Christine of Pickens, SC, and Harold Green and wife Lois of Brevard; sisters, Helen McCall of Brevard, Ruby Green of Mills River, and Edith McCall and husband Gene of Old Toxaway; ten grandchildren, Leslie Coxwell and husband Ken of Ridgecrest, CA, Lisa Glenn and husband Thomas of Mills River, Christian McCannon and George of Fountain, FL, Stephanie McCoy of Nashville, TN, James Smith and wife Joy of Asheville, Ronnie McGahee and wife Chrystal of Fayetteville, NC, Tiffany Daniels and husband Cliff of Vienna, GA, Tara McGahee of Fayetteville, Bill McCoy and wife Michelle of Greenville, SC, and Joy Terry and husband David of Simpsonville, SC; 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Elsie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to sew, work in the garden, and prepare a meal for her family. She was a member of Boylston Baptist Church for about 55 years where she taught Sunday school in the Children's Dept. for many years. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at Boylston Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Glenn and Rev. James Burress officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 pm Saturday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
