Emma Barton Hinkle went home to be with the Jesus Saturday March 11, 2017, at the Transylvania Community Hospital. She died peacefully with her family present. She was born November 16, 1926 in Swain County NC and move to Transylvania County when she was a teenager. She was the daughter of the late Bertha Hyde Holden and Jim Holden. Those that proceeded in death was her husband Avery Barton, grandson Jonathan Douglas Owen and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband Robert W Hinkle of 13 years. They were married on November 22, 2003, Daughter Evelyn Owen-Patterson and husband Mike of Brevard, grandson Brian Wesley Owen of Brevard, sister Flossie Barton of Brevard and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Whitewater Baptist Church in Sapphire NC. She was a lady of many talents. She worked at B&B in Brevard, owned the M&M restaurant in Brevard and worked at American Thread. She was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed going to the Brevard Farmers Market. She did a lot of canning which many people enjoy. She enjoyed cooking and baking which she learned a lot from her mother. Many thanks go to the Transylvania Community Hospital and doctors where she received so much care and kindness. The family will receive friend at the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Monday March 13, 2017 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday March 14, 2017 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest, NC In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be sent to: Whitewater Baptist Church Building Fund, 295 Whitewater Church Road, Sapphire NC 28774.
