Obituary

Evelyn Virginia Madden Frady (1936-2024)

Evelyn Virginia Madden Frady, of Brevard, passed away peacefully at home on Monday November 25th, 2024, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.  Her passing leaves a void, but her life leaves an abundance of cherished memories, and her faith gives us hope for an eternity together.

She was born in Whittier, NC  on February 17, 1936 to Tom Madden and Irona Fowler Madden, and grew up in Cashiers, NC with her 5 siblings. Evelyn graduated from Glenville High School before going to work at Ecusta Corporation, in Pisgah Forest, NC. Evelyn married Clifford Frady of Little River, NC on June 16, 1956. She was a hard worker, creating a loving home for her husband and two sons, Barron and Greg. She also worked during her lifetime at The Transylvania Times, Brevard Elementary School, and her family's restaurant in Cashiers, NC for over 30 years. Evelyn's biscuits at Tommy's Restaurant were once featured in Southern Living Magazine! She had a servant's heart, and food was her love language. All of her family and friends benefitted from her gifts.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Clifford Barron Frady, of Brevard. She was also preceded by her parents, her sister Martha who died as an infant, her sister Velma Bryson and her husband Tom, two brothers Jim Madden and his wife Joyce, and Dean Madden and his wife Donnie, all of Cashiers, and sister-in-law Earlene Madden of Rosman.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Clifford, and their son Greg and his wife Nancy Waldrop Frady of Brevard. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Virginia Claire Aspray of Brevard, Campbell Aspray of Colorado, Patrick Frady of Brevard, Collin Frady of Wilmington, NC, Sean Thomas Frady of Boone, NC, and Rebecca Frady of Brevard and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Evelyn Aspray of Colorado. She is also survived by two brothers, Tommy Madden, and his wife Doris of Cashiers, and Ed Madden of Rosman, and many nieces and nephews whom she adored!

Evelyn was a member of First Baptist Church, Brevard where she loved her Sunday school class and her many treasured friends.

The family will receive friends at Moody-Connolly Chapel on Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at 1:00pm. A celebration of Evelyn's life will follow at 2:00 pm at the same location. Donations in her name to Transylvania Baptist Men for building wheelchair ramps are appreciated.
