Fred Andrew Best, Jr. Pisgah Forest – Fred Andrew Best, Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, October 3, 2015. He was born in Swampscott, Massachusetts to the late Fred Andrew Best, Sr. and Rena Ladd Best, and lived in Massachusetts most of his life. Fred worked for the City of Lynn as a custodian in an elementary school and he loved being around the children. Prior to that, he worked at Gordon College in Wenham, MA as a custodial supervisor and he loved the students who worked for him. He also worked for H. P. Hood & Sons doing home delivery and for Cushman's Bakery where he met his wife, Kathryn. He and his wife came to know the Lord Jesus and became involved in West Congregational Church where he was on the Missions Committee and served as treasurer. They retired to NC in 1997 and he became active in Christ Covenant Church where he faithfully served as an elder for many years. Fred loved music, the mountains and the people. He is now in Heaven singing praises to the Lord. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn B. Best; son, Rick Best of Pisgah Forest; daughter, Jodie Sweeney and husband Rick of Peabody, MA; brother, Dave Best and wife Sandy of Marion, IA; grandchildren, Jason, Andrew, and Christopher Sweeney, Stephen Best; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Sweeney. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Christ Covenant Church. Memorials may be made to Christ Covenant Church or to Samaritan's Purse.
