Mills River - Fritz Carl Waldrop, 89, of Mills River, formerly of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. He died the day before his 90th birthday. He was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Henderson Waldrop. A sister, Marie Waldrop Stiles, also preceded him in death. He was a 1941 graduate of Brevard College, a World War II veteran and a member of the Army Corps of Engineers. He worked as the power and water superintendent at Ecusta Paper for 41 years and was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. He was also a member of the Cattlemen's Association and the Elk's Club. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Patty Jones Waldrop; sons, Carl Waldrop and wife, Margaret, of Easley, S.C. and Brent Waldrop of Mills River; daughters, Linda Waldrop Tucker and husband, Jimmy, of Mills River and Nancy Waldrop Frady and husband, Greg, of Brevard; brothers, Furman Waldrop and wife Faye, of Aiken, S.C. and Joe Waldrop and wife JoAnn of Anderson, S.C.; eight grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, prior to the memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Brevard Community Church. Rev. Todd Alewine will officiate. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made to The Elizabeth House, 571 S.
