Brevard – Furman Hooper, 86, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Pardee Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Huff and Patsy Dietz Hooper. He was preceded in death by his sister, Clara H. Carter and her husband A. B. Carter. A native of Jackson County, he lived in Brevard for 64 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was employed by Olin and Gladfelter for 40 years. Survivors include his daughter, Angela Hooper of Brevard; brothers, John Hooper of Brevard and Conroy Hooper and wife Betty of Los Vegas, NV; sisters, Becky Conner and husband Roy of Brevard and Martha Benson and husband Doug of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Shari and husband Rob and Jana and nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2pm on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeremy Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. Online condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
