Garnet Ralph West of Brevard passed away Monday, August 10, 2009 at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard. A native of Cedar Grove, Indiana he was the son of the late Joseph Cephas and Emma Clark West. Mr. West is a long time resident of the area where he served as pastor at churches in Brevard and Rosman. He also served in the Brevard Police Department as a dispatcher. He is survived by Edith West of Brevard, his wife of 70 years; five children, Rebekah Ann West and her husband Carl of Fort Payne, AL, Paul Ralph West and his wife Sharon of Brevard, Stephanie Diane West of New Braunfels, TX, Richard Steven West of Grand Junction, CO and Michael Andrew West and his wife Missy of Rosman, NC; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grand children. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Middle Fork Baptist Church in Rosman. In lieu of flowers Mr. West has requested that memorial contributions can be made to the Mission Fund at Middle Fork Baptist Church.
