Obituary

Gerard Leo Tetreault, age 81, of Etowah, was a caring and loving man. He died Thursday August 6, 2009 with love and faith, surrounded by his wife and children. Jerry was a very well known and loved man. He was a pillar in his community. Jerry attended Saint Thomas Aquinas grammar school in Springfield Massachusetts. He graduated from Springfield Technical High School. Upon graduation Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy, He served from 1946 until January 14, 1948 at which time he received an honorable discharge. After his discharge his continuing education led him to the Coyne Electrical School, where he received his diploma in electricity, radio electronics and refrigeration. He worked at assorted electrical jobs through which he earned his journeyman's license and master's license. In the 1953 to 1960 Jerry and his nephew Roland started Tetreault & Duquette Electrical Contractors. He operated his contracting business while also starting a career at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Lochs Ct. Jerry was hired as a machine maintenance electrician. Through his career at Hamilton Standard his knowledge, people skills and work ethics moved him through the management levels until his retirement as Machine Maintenance Superintendent in 1987 at the age of 59 after 30 plus of service. Although retired, Jerry never stopped pursing his love of using his hands and mind. He always was available to solve or fix whatever was brought to him. With his quick witt and vast knowledge of electrical and mechanical items, he was a godsend to many and a friend to all. He was a proud member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he worshiped with his wife Anita. He was also very proud of his Fourth Degree status in The Knights of Columbus; he also served on the honor guard and was a member of the First Degree Team as Chancellor. He was the son of the late, Henri C. Tetreault and Lois Anne Morin, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Page 2 Survivors include his wife, Anita Beaulieu of the home; three sons Paul A. Tetreault of Stevenson Ranch Calif., Leo G. Tetreault of Raymond Main, and Lawrence L. Tetreault of Rancho Cucamonga Calif; one daughter Mrs. Ronald (Marcell) Wutka of Monson Mass., two sisters Mrs. Yvonne McGuire Lehigh Acres Fl. and Mrs. Henrietta Beaudry of Des Moines Iowa nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2009 conducted by Father Carl T. Del Giudice. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, N.C. 28801. Jerry's love for his family was uncompromising. The sadness and sorrow of his passing will be felt by all who were lucky enough to know him. "Dad you were the best husband and father we could have hoped for. We will miss you always.
