Brevard - Gladys Marie Owen Daves peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on September 3, 2024, at the age of 85. Born March 18, 1939, she was a cherished daughter of the late Bert and Rosie Owen.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Leon Daves, as well as four of her siblings: Connie Newton, Elvalina Liner, Gertha Owen and Allen Owen.

She is survived by six of her siblings: June Moore, Dianne Stamey, Matilda Burleson, Lila Galloway, Elvina Morgan and Strawder Owen. She was the proud mother of four children: Rita (Mark Sheppard) with grandchildren Daniel Owen, Matthew and James Sheppard, Ellarhea Cochran with grandchildren Jason and Nathan, Lonnie Daves (Jennifer) with grandchildren Marlena and Elijah, Ira Daves (Sandy) with grandchildren Ryan and Christopher.  She was also a great grandmother and a great great grandmother. Known affectionately as "Nanny" to many.

Gladys was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Her greatest joy came from loving and caring for her family and those around her. She had a passion for crocheting and cooking, often sharing her creations with loved ones. Above all, Gladys was a woman of deep compassion and unwavering faith, whose love for Jesus was evident in how she lived each day.

A private family service will be held.
